Working towards an ethical hacking career, one rubber duck at a time

Right now, I'm looking for opportunities to help small businesses with a security-conscious MSP in Charlotte, NC and getting eJPT certified.

I've done time in education, medicine, and chemistry, and discovered my passion is for people, devices and networks. Building relationships and tools to make business safe and efficient is what I excel at.

My experience is the key to doing what I do well. Teaching requires the ability to understand how people communicate and retain information (and figuring it out quickly). Responding to emergencies is only possible with a level head in unpredictable situations. Dealing with hazardous materials requires focus, planning, and knowledge of very complicated subjects.

I bring this ability with me wherever I go.

I have since focused on building practical skills for helping people do business while keeping data, infrastructure and code secure.

My home lab is built on what modern environments use and what is interesting to learn about. This includes:

  • VMWare machines running Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
  • Configuring Cisco network device automation with Ansible (in addition to other vendors)
  • Managing identities and networks in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Building tools with Bash, Python, and other langauges to reduce time on repetitive tasks at work and home
  • Implementing defensive visibility with IDS/SIEM systems (Snort, Splunk, Wazuh)
  • Finding real vulnerabilities for platforms I use daily and exploring exploits in virtual environments
  • If you see me, say hi! I'd love to figure out how I can help you.
